旅の思い出・番外編ーウズベキスタンの旅(6) Memories of trips-extra edition-No.6. Trip to Uzbekistan-Samarkand

This day was on Wednesday 10. 8 2014. We were at the hotel in Samarkand. The temperature was about 15℃. It was very cold all day. The days before were over 30℃. On this day we did sightseeing of Samarkand. It is famous for the capital of blue or Samarkand blue. It means blue sky and blue mosques. The population of this city is about 504,000, a large oasis city. Certainly there were abundant trees and plants.

We visited the mausoleum of Gur-e-Amir (グーリ・アミール廟)which is said the tomb of Timur are there. The Uzbek female guide said the following was written on the lid of coffin, " When I awoke from the sleep of death, the world will be frightened." The inquiry committee of the Soviet Union opened the lid in 1941, they found the following words. "Those who uncovered the tomb unleash the invaders who are more scary than me."  In fact, Operation Barbarossa was begun by Adolf Hitler to attack the Soviet Union in June 1941.

And then we visited a supermarket to do shopping by Uzbek money in hand. I wanted to buy Uzbek wine, but it had no alcohol bevaerages though we could have alcohol bevaerages at most restaurnts. And I was surpised at many Shin Ramyuns items for sale produced in Korea. Korea and China have big presence in Uzbek.

At night we ate dinner in the old private house of UNESCO world heritage site. I saw the biggest and clear Moon I'd never seen until that time. I wondered nomads people and caravans in Central Asia had been seeing such beautiful Moon.
