旅の思い出・番外編ーウズベキスタンの旅(2) Memories of trips -extra edition-No.2. Trip to Uzbekistan-Tashkent(1)

On Friday 10.3 2014, We left Japan from Narita Tokyo International Airport of Narita to Tashkent. I stayed at LE GRANDE PLAZA hotel in Tashkent.

On Saturday 10.4 2014, we did the sightseeing of the famous places in the city such as Barak-Khan Madrassah (Islamic seminary), Ko' kaldash Madrasasah, Chorz Bazar (the largest market in Uzbek). We got on the subways in Tashkent. I was very surprised at subway stations which were magnificent, gorgeous and fortress like structures. Unfortunately taking photos were banned strictly. I thought it might be one of military secrets against nuclear wars. And then we visited Alisher Navoi Opera and Ballet Theatre. It was built by about 500 Japanese prisoners of WW2 brought from Siberia in the Soviet Union. It was said the building completed about Nov.1945 and withstood Tashkent earthquake in 1966. They were proud of Japan. And we visited the cemetery for Japanese. I saw gravestones of Uzbek people, too. Figures of the deceased were printed on the surfaces of gravestones just like photos. This surprised me very much. Why did Uzbek people do such things? I didn't know.

And we got on the domestic flight to Khiva by way of Urgench International Airport. Khiva was called a religious city along with Bukhara in Uzbek. We stayed at  Malika-Khorezm hotel.

Alisher Navoi Opera and Ballet Theatre. It is proud of Japaese people.
